Foster Care Fortnight™ workshops and theme

News

The Fostering Network will be asking people to consider their own personal connection to fostering and to find out whether they have the skills to make a difference to a child’s life during Foster Care Fortnight ™ 2015.

Fostering: Make a connection has great potential to work on many different levels to support fostering services with their recruitment and retention activities. With over 63,000 children living with 52,500 foster carers in the UK, many people will be able to demonstrate their link to fostering. Connections to fostering could be through a family member, friend, neighbour or colleague who fosters, has been fostered, or who works to support children and young people in foster care.

Fostering services are invited to join one of our workshops to ‘get connected’ with the theme for Foster Care Fortnight™ 2015. The workshops will enable attendees to discuss priorities, and how they can be achieved through the different applications of this year’s theme.

The workshops will also encourage the sharing and generation of innovative ideas to engage everyone in your fostering community, and give you the chance to network with fostering service colleagues in your region to identify joint working opportunities this Foster Care Fortnight™.

The workshops will take place:

Wednesday 28 January, The Studio, Birmingham

Tuesday 10 February, The Fostering Network, Cardiff

Tuesday 17 February, Children in Scotland Offices, Edinburgh

Tuesday 24 February, NCVO, London

You can book your place on a workshop or find out more about Foster Care Fortnight™ on our website.

Foster Care Fortnight™ 2015 will take place from Monday 1 to Sunday 14 June. We will also be posting content on social media throughout the fortnight of how we and others are connected to fostering.
