The annual Fostering Excellence Awards take place in autumn and they shine a spotlight on the young people, foster carers, social workers and others who make a positive contribution to fostering.

You can nominate someone who you consider to have made an outstanding contribution to foster carer in the following categories:

Fostering Achievement
• Fostering Achievement (open to 16-24 year olds with experience of care)
Celebrates the achievements of a young person who has succeeded against the odds on their journey through foster care
 
• Fostering Achievement for Education (open to 16-24 year olds with experience of care)
Celebrates the achievements of a young person who has been in foster care and has succeeded in education

Outstanding Contribution to Foster Care

• Outstanding Contribution by a Foster Carer (open to members only)
Recognises a foster carer who has made an exceptional contribution to foster care
 
• Outstanding Contribution by a Social Worker (open to members only)
Recognises a social worker who has made an exceptional contribution to foster care
 
• Outstanding Contribution by Sons and Daughters (open to children of members only)
Celebrates a son, daughter or sibling group who have gone the extra mile to support their parents or children and young people in foster care with their family

There will also be several awards that are awarded by The Fostering Network, including, Fostering Community Supporter, Fostering Friendly Employer, and President’s Award.

Jackie Sanders, director of public affairs at The Fostering Network, said: “The awards are an opportunity to recognise a contribution to foster care that goes above and beyond what could normally be expected. 

“We know already that everyone involved in foster care deserves an award for their commitment, but this special event is an opportunity to shine a light on the whole of foster care through some unique and inspiring stories.”

Nominations for the Fostering Excellence Awards will close on 10 June 2016.
