Permanence in foster care conference early bird places announced
The Fostering Network is pleased to announce that early bird places are now available for our conference, Permanence in Foster Care: improving choices and life chances for children and young people, which will take place on Thursday, 17 September.
Developed with fostering services, this conference will focus on permanence in foster care in England. You will hear from key policy makers, learn from services which are implementing the changes and contribute to ongoing policy and practice development to ensure permanence options such as Staying Put really work for children and young people. This event is essential for everyone involved in fostering, particularly supervising social workers; children’s social workers; independent reviewing officers and fostering team managers.
Confirmed speakers include:
• Katie Law, deputy director of children in care, Department for Education;
• Kevin Williams, chief executive, The Fostering Network;
• Matthew Brazier, national lead for looked after children, Ofsted;
• Paul Denis, policy officer, Department for Education;
• Ian Dixon, CEO, Xcel 2000;
• Michelle Cuffe, managing director, Excel Fostering.
Ian Dixon, Chair of National Steering Group of Independent Fostering Providers, said: “This event is crucial for understanding the new long term fostering legislation and guidance in England and exploring their impact on our practice.
“With some excellent speakers and good practice sessions, I would encourage all my fostering colleagues to attend.”
