Nominations open for Northern Ireland foster and kinship care awards

The award ceremony is held annually to recognise the work of foster carers and kinship carers, and last year inspirational couple Margaret and Jackie McCarragher were presented with their foster carer of the year award by Michelle McIlveen MLA, who hosted the event in the Great Hall in the Northern Ireland Assembly.

The Fostering Network has today announced that 8,370 new foster families are needed across the UK during 2015 to provide stable, secure and loving homes for record numbers of fostered children.

Charity welcomes CSSIW report

The Fostering Network has welcomed the publication of a report by the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) on the national inspection of safeguarding and care planning of looked after children and care leavers who exhibit vulnerable or risky behaviours.
