The Skills to FosterTM Pre-approval course is the market-leading course for preparing new applicants for the challenges of fostering. It offers applicants the opportunity to develop their understanding of foster care through trainer-led learning opportunities, including the chance to discuss and reflect on information, and to share ideas and perspectives with other participants.
We recognise that even during this challenging time when it is essential to maintain capacity within fostering but training cannot take place face to face, it remains as important as ever that prospective carers are helped to prepare as fully as possible for the role. This is why we have launched a digital version of the third edition of our market-leading The Skills to FosterTM Pre-approval course. This new digital edition makes a range of materials for the course available electronically, including:
- Leaders Guide
- Presentation slides and handouts
- Training films
- My Family Fosters - handbook for sons and daughters
- Certificates and evaluation forms.
The handbook for participants is available to purchase in print for applicants to use throughout their training. Distribution for this can be arranged on request. Please email orders@fosteringresources.co.uk.
The materials in this new digital edition are available for free to members who have already purchased these materials in print - all you need to do is get in touch by emailing orders@fosteringresources.co.uk. For any service wishing to purchase the third edition for the first time, you can order online from Fostering Resources and will also be given access to the digital edition.
While the course has not been designed as an online course and we continue to believe that trainer-led face-to-face delivery is the most appropriate format for The Skills to FosterTM Pre-approval course, especially given its contribution to the assessment process, we are working to develop further resources to support you to adapt to delivering the course online.
