Non Violent Resistance (NVR) is an empowering and non-physical method for parents and carers to manage and connect with children to reduce and eradicate violence and abuse.
The aim of NVR is to re-stablish your presence in the childs’ mind, develop a co-operative, more harmonious relationship and for the balance of power to be addressed.
Aims and objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will:
- Have an understanding of when Non Violent Resistance may be an appropriate intervention
- Have gained knowledge of a range of Non Violent Resistance approaches
- Understand the need for parents/carers to adapt their own behaviour in order to influence that of the children/young people they are caring for
- Understand how NVR can help parents/carers rebuild relationships that have been eroded
