The Fostering Network is delighted to welcome Sarah Thomas as its new director for Wales and commercial activity.

Sarah joins The Fostering Network from AFA Cymru (formally BAAF Cymru), where she was the Service Manager from 2019. A qualified social worker, Sarah’s career has spanned a range of roles supporting vulnerable children and families in Wales, including many within fostering teams where she has been able to work closely with some incredible fostering families.

Sarah has been embedded in the work of the National Fostering Framework in Wales since it commenced, initially as Regional Development Manager and then National Programme Manager, overseeing the development and successful launch of Foster Wales.

The Fostering Network’s chief executive, Kevin Williams, said: ‘We are really pleased to have Sarah join us as our new director for Wales and commercial activity. She joins us at an exciting time and brings a wealth of experience to the role along with a clear commitment to supporting foster carers. I am looking forward to working with Sarah to take forward our work in Wales, and on the development of our commercial work across the UK.’

Commenting on her appointment, Sarah Thomas said: ‘I’m excited to be joining The Fostering Network. I’m passionate about raising the profile of foster carers and improving outcomes for vulnerable children. Over the past 20 years I’ve observed many children thrive and exceed their expectations thanks to the love and commitment of incredible fostering families.

‘Fostering is a unique role which requires selfless dedication. I’ve committed my working life to ensuring that those who choose to foster have everything that they need to be the very best that they can be, and I believe that this is how we will transform the lives of future generations.’
