John Lewis Christmas advert - supporting young people in care

News

Yesterday saw the launch of this year's Christmas ad campaign from John Lewis, which highlights foster care and the company's commitment to support young people with care experience through their Building Happier Futures programme. The Fostering Network is pleased to welcome this campaign and the increased awareness of foster care it will bring. We are also looking forward to working closely with John Lewis as part of the Buildling Happier Futures advisory board.

'The Fostering Network’s vision is a society where the importance of fostering is understood, recognised and supported and where children in foster care have the best possible experience. This year’s John Lewis Christmas advert will go a long way to raising awareness of the important, and often hidden, role foster care plays in all our communities. Foster carers have the power to transform a child’s life through supporting them to thrive in a loving and nurturing family home.

'The Fostering Network have long campaigned for a much needed increase in funding and focus for foster care, so we are really pleased to be working with John Lewis Partnerships on their advisory group for ‘Building Happier Futures’ programme. This is a long-term commitment by the retailer to help young people with experience of care in a number of ways, including supporting in their employment opportunities. We hope this work - and this iconic Christmas advert - will be a catalyst to support our vision for foster care.'
