Coaching and Mentoring

This course will equip fostering social workers with coaching and mentoring skills to develop their supervisory role and relationships.

Aims and objectives:

  • Understand the differences in approach and application between coaching and mentoring
  • Clarify how these approaches are integral to supervision and support for foster carers
  • Understand the key components of motivation and collaboration
  • Explore a range of relationship based and collaborative coaching models
  • Practice the core skills of coaching and mentoring such as listening and questioning
  • Develop a framework for ethical and reflective practice
