Your fostering journey begins at the recruitment stage with an assessment from your initial enquiry and continues through to your fostering assessment and then your ongoing approval as a foster carer.
Developing a positive working relationship with your fostering service is vital to ensure that you can work as a member of ‘the team around the child.’
- This team includes the foster carer, their supervising social worker, the child’s birth family and the child’s social worker, as well as several other people, such as education and health professionals, depending on the child’s specific needs.
Expectations:
Setting out clear expectations of everyone’s role and responsibilities will support and strengthen relationships to ensure children fostered are supported and delivered the best care to meet their specific needs.
